Valentine's Day!

Hi Love’s

Maybe you can tell what this Cassie’s Thoughts is going to be about, but for those of you who don’t know I’m going to tell you about one of my favorite holidays Valentine’s Day. As a child my favorite holiday was Valentine’s Day. I did not really have a reason for it except for the fact that I would say I loved love. I no longer think it is my favorite, however I can get very into it but I am a holiday girl I tend to get into every holiday.
I was one of those children that for Valentine’s Day would have my mom make treats for everyone and fill out my valentine’s specifically for certain people. I remember thinking “oh I like this card it’s cute you’re going to go to my crush's.” Looking back I think that I got a little too much into Valentine’s. I remember having parties at school everyone was so excited about the candy (it was like a second Halloween) and here I was reading the cards getting super excited about what type I got, I also really liked the candy too. I love seeing children now a days celebrating Valentine’s I think it’s just so cute.  I see little girls getting excited for filling out their cards and dressing up in cute pink and red clothes. While the boys look forward to the treats and get grossed out by the idea of liking a girl.

My first Valentine’s Day that I celebrated with another person was a nice simple one I got a little bucket the guy made with a big bag of M&M’s (my favorite candy), a little teddy, a blue heart pen, and a smelly pencil. It wasn’t much but it was sweet and like I always say it is the thought that counts not how much they spend. My one best friend and I for the past couple of years now have called each other our valentines. It doesn’t matter if we have a guy valentine or not. We will try to spend a weekend together, give each other chocolate (and maybe a stuff animal), watch a movie or go see one at the theater, and just have a good old BFF bonding time. This year unfortunately we might not get to see each other until March but we will celebrate.
Are you ready for a history lesson? Valentine’s Day is in memory of three known saints all of which were martyrs, all named Valentinus. The one I could find the most information on was killed for performing weddings which was against the law and ministering to Christians; a Roman Emperor put the law in place because he believed single men were better at fighting than men that were married. He was imprisoned and fell in love with his jailer daughter. Right before he was killed he wrote a letter to her signing it “From Your Valentine.” Another history lesson for you today would be about the Valentine’s Day massacre.  It happened 1929 in Chicago, Al Capone is the gang leader thought to be responsible for it. He wanted to eliminate his enemies and climax of this was February 14. Seven men associated with the Irish gangster George Moran were shot to death by men dressed as police men. Moran just missed the shooting by a couple of minutes since he was on his way there. Moran was quoted saying that the only person capable of this type of crime was Capone but when asked, Capone stated he was at home in Florida. No one knows for sure who was responsible for the Valentine’s Day Massacre but many believe that Capone was the one behind it.
Some of you may be asking now what do I plan to do this Valentine’s Day. The answer is I am not entirely sure yet. I have been asked by a couple of guys (I felt so bad telling them no) but not by the one I am hoping for. Also, my friend probably won’t be here to celebrate either. I might have to work but I am not sure yet. There are a few different things I would like to do this holiday though. I am a romantic (at least I think I am) and yes the flowers, chocolate, and fancy dinner does sound nice but I’m not in that for Valentine’s Day. If a guy wanted to do that for me I wouldn’t necessarily say no though either. I really want to see the movie Deadpool and hang out with my valentine. For future valentine’s I have thought of would be have a guy cook me a meal I like or get my favorite take-out and watch a movie we both like. I also would like to celebrate the history of Valentine’s Day by going to play Laser Tag (which I have never done), try shooting a gun for the first time maybe, or something in that area. From what I have learned so far in my life anything can be fun or romantic as long as the two of you are having fun, you don’t have to make a guy suffer every year to do something sappy that can just stress him out.
My tips for Valentine’s Day is go see each other Valentine’s Day but don’t celebrate it that day. Wait till the craziness dies down and candy if 50% of because as yummy as it is no one should have to spend an arm and a leg for it but that is only a suggestion. If you do celebrate on that day do what I do buy something small and then make something. Put your heart in the gift and show them how much they mean to you. My favorite thing to do is make my valentine his favorite sweet treat or put together a cute little gift basket of some of his favorite things. The most important key to having an awesome Valentine’s Day is to talk to your valentine and make a game plan as to what’s okay and what’s not okay with what you guys do. That’s all I have for you readers today I hope your Valentine’s Day is magical.:)
