Hey, guys sorry for not posting in a while, school keeps me busy. I thought I would share an assignment I wrote as to why I am going to become a teacher.
I think becoming a teacher was always in the back of my
mind, I remember being in grade school looking at check marks thinking “this
check mark is so good I bet if my teacher saw it she would tell me I should be
a teacher.” Looking back, I must laugh because to me it seems silly that a
check mark would determine what career I would have. I do not I ever had an
exact moment where I thought “I am being a teacher case closed,” more of a
series of advents that worked its way up.
As a child, my childhood dream job was to be a spy, I
knew that would never happen, so I thought of many other careers as well. When
I went into high school I decided what ever choice I made I wanted it to be a
career where I got to help people. The result when I graduated high school was
to be a psychologist, but I learn it was not meant for me. I remember going
to my councilor (who I found out was someone I knew), telling her I had no idea
what I was supposed to do, and saying I just want a career that helped people.
After talking the councilor recommended that I should
consider becoming a teacher or a social worker. I have always loved kids and
both of those jobs I would be helping people but I was still unsure of what to
do. I realized being a social worker would not be the right fit for me and that
left me to think about teaching. I thought back to my time in school and the
challenges that I went through. I realized that I did not have very
understanding teachers that were willing to connect with me and help until I
reached high school. I loved most of my high school teacher and keep in contact
with some today. The reason I chose to be a teacher started because of them
mainly because they should me what a teacher was supposed to do and I wanted to
make sure young children had that experience as well.
You have chosen a career that is both rewarding and important. You can have a great influence on your students lives. I don't think teachers get the credit they deserve.
ReplyDeleteIf you have a passion for a teaching career, then you will succeed. I wish you all the best on your journey to becoming a teacher. And it's good to write about it too!
Thanks Rich!
